Born in Newcastle, Tyne & Wear in 1967, and I still live in the North East of England. I live with my partner of 18 years and our 2 children.
I am inspired by women, their stories, their songs and their history.
I do love painting figures as they are so affecting and I try to capture the spirit of woman in each one.
I paint from the heart and believe that I put a piece of myself into all of my paintings. I explore my understanding of people, relationships and experiences that have created the person I am today. Painting feels like grieving for the person I don't know I've lost, on a journey to find I don't know what and in love with something that I can't explain.
If I can feel any of the above, then I know that the painting is going to work.
If I can make you stop and take notice, then I have achieved something.
"... the only time you ever have in which to learn anything or see anything or feel anything, or express any feeling or emotion, or respond to an event, or grow, or heal, is this moment, because this is the only moment any of us ever gets. You’re only here now; you’re only alive in this moment." -- Jon Kabat-Zinn
